23 Years Later…

Had a full circle moment this week…

I placed a candidate who had been with the same company for 23 years.
23 years.

Loyal, consistent, experienced… the kind of person every business wants to keep.
And here’s the part that made it even more special…

I actually placed her in that role 23 years ago.

When we reconnected, it wasn’t about lack of ability, absolutely far from it.
Her experience was solid. Her personality shone through.

But interviews?
That was her barrier, after so long in one place, confidence had taken a knock. She was nervous, unsure, and second-guessing herself.

So we worked on it together:

  • Talking through her experience in a way that felt natural
  • Building her confidence step by step
  • Preparing properly, not perfectly

Because the truth was… she didn’t need to be anyone else.
She just needed to believe in what she already had.

And she did, she absolutely nailed the interview and secured a new role.

Moments like this are why I’ve stayed in recruitment so long.

It’s not just about placing candidates……. it’s about backing people until they start backing themselves and of course, making long term connections.
